MATT AND CHERA
From the first moments of hoping and longing to hold your own sweet baby, to seeing those two little lines show up faintly or not so faintly pink on the test, to the moments of checking and re-checking the app to find out what size fruit the baby is; from the flutters of excitement of meeting baby at his first ultrasound, to the pangs of the first contraction and the exhilarating and life changing moment of birth when baby finally arrives and you hold her for the first time, through it all you feel your heart could never be so full. And then waiting ceases and you are swept up in the fast stream of parenting-life; of changing, feeding and more changing, night time waking when you pick up your baby and breathe them in and feel the surrender of their littleness nestling in to your arms so so fragile, innocent, perfect.  At first so small, fitting cozily in your hands and arms and then then you blink and they grow, and they are crawling, then their toddler wobble sees them adventure across rooms and into mischief, and soon enough their birthday cake has one candle, then two, then three, and before you know it school, and before you know it, those hard earned baby teeth that kept you and her up as you rocked them through the long nights of teething, start to fall out and make room for grown up teeth, and she flashes that goofy space-filled grin after telling her knock knock joke or climbs higher on the playground than she ever had before.    All these treasured times that in the moment you think you’ll always remember as vividly as you do now; these days that are somehow so long and yet go by so quickly, these are the life changing and stretching moments of becoming parents. Those moments of becoming: becoming a mother, becoming a father, becoming a family; these are the moments Matthew and I love to capture. Photographing the pride you have of your newly rounded belly, the baby fresh and new in his first ten days when he fits so easily in his daddy’s strong hands, and when he still curls up remembering how you cradled him in the womb those nine months lulled by the beat of your steady heart, the moments of you holding each other, laughing, snuggling, and letting the photos capture your family’s story.
